Objectives

At the end of the week students will have:

      • introduced themselves
      • become acquainted with the course syllabus, activities and assessment plan
      • become familiarized with the online platforms to be used during the course
      • understood the concepts of blended learning and its relation with autonomous learning
      • created a wiki
      • expressed their expectations for this course

 

Activities

 

Monday

 

  1. Welcome and Introductions -  
  2. Check rooms and schedules
  3. Syllabus -
  4. Discussion of what a blended course is
  5. Assigning readings and presentations (information will be posted to the Topics for oral presentation wiki Moodle). After you register, you will be able to select the reading you will be presenting in class (see assessment plan )
  6. Opening an e-mail account if not available yet, and getting a Yahoo ID
  7. Surfing around course Web page and activities wiki
  8. Completing this survey about your expertise in the use of Web tools
  9. Registering to http://80.60.224.77/moodle2 ) Read the tutorial for registration

 

For next class: bring a photo (format jpg or gif) on a CD, or pen drive

 

 

 

Wednesday

 

  1. Take the autonomy survey
  2. Discuss what it takes to complete a blended course
  3. Go to Moodle, edit your profile and add your photo
  4. Surf around the Moodle environment, the course Web site, and activities wiki. Ask all the questions that come to your mind ;-)
  5. In Moodle,  go to the Sharing with Dafne journal, create your own, and write a short paragraph about your expectations for this course
  6. Share your thoughts with the class 
  7. Create a wiki at Wikispaces

      • Create an account (remember to write down your password)
      • You can check this tutorial on how to use Wikispaces: http://www.wikispaces.com/site/tour#introduction
      • Login to your account
      • Click on Make a new space (left upper corner of the page)
      • Give your space a name (don´t make it long since it will be your wiki URL, like this:
        http:// name.wikispaces.com  
      • Make your wiki Protected free (the second option): Everyone can view pages, only space members can edit them

  8. Invite me to your wiki:

 

- Go to Manage Space, then to Members and permissions,
- Scroll down the page to: Invite a new member. Write my e-mail address or my username: Daf
- Click on Add Member
