      • listened to opinions expressed by other people regarding these fields
      • recorded their own opinions
      • read  and listened to texts related to the careers of architecture and urban planning
      • used vocabulary related to this content in written paragraphs and recordings

Definitions

  1. Share with your classmates and teacher the definitions you wrote about architecture and urban planning
  2. Now, let's listen to what some friends and collegues of mine from different parts of the world think about architecture and urban planning (click on the image below).

   2.   Pre-reading/listening activities for the audio text: "The architect and his profession"

        • What can you predict about the content of the text by reading the title?
        • What questions will be answered?
        • Guess the vocabulary that might be included?

   3.  Complete the poll about what an architect /urban planner needs to know. Results will be discussed. 

 

   4.  Listen to the podcast and complete the activities indicated

 

   5.  In class, discuss the answers to the questions asked by the speaker

 

   6.  Read the text found in Moodle.

 

   7.  Post-reading:

      • Class discussion:How are architecture and urban planning different in terms of the qualifications needed for each?
      • Answer the following questions as comments on the podomatic blog: cities and buildings

a)  After today's reading, how do you feel about your future profession?

 

b)  What is the role of architects / urban planners in today's world?
